A Planning Tool With Defined Inputs
This tool turns a known measured roof area into a low and high architectural-asphalt planning budget. Its value is the connection between area and stated work, with the limits visible. You can leave the measurement to the inspection if you do not have one.

Calculate an Architectural-Asphalt Planning Budget
Enter 1,500 to 3,500 square feet of measured roof surface. The model uses $4 to $6 per square foot under the stated one-layer replacement assumptions. It does not calculate commercial, metal or repair prices.
Keep the 2,000 sq. ft. example, or enter an area you already know. Roof footprint means the area covered, not total living space.
Keep the 6:12 example unless you already know the pitch. Pitch helps check material suitability.
Planning budget example
Planning example for 2,000 sq. ft. of actual roof surface, using architectural asphalt. Ordinary tear-off is included.
Kansas City metro installed replacement planning ranges, including ordinary tear-off. Roof complexity, access and damaged decking can change the final quote.

What this planning example includes
The regional architectural-asphalt model uses $4 to $6 per measured roof square foot, for 1,500 to 3,500 square feet of roof surface.
Base work includes one-layer shingle tear-off, synthetic underlayment, valley and eave ice-water protection, needed flashing, ridge venting and haul-away. Additional layers, damaged wood, structural work and unusual access can change the scope.
Kansas City metro provider-published planning evidence was checked October 27, 2026. No material, commercial or repair rate is inferred from this example.
Read the Result With Its Scope
The calculation clarifies a defined example; the actual roof determines the project.

- Measured roof surface
Use a known roof measurement. House floor area omits slope, overhangs and other roof sections. If you do not have a roof measurement, a free inspection is the useful next step.
- Base replacement work
The model includes architectural asphalt, one-layer tear-off, synthetic underlayment, valley and eave ice-water protection, needed flashing, ridge venting and haul-away.
- Work that changes the budget
Extra layers, damaged decking, structural changes, difficult access and assembly changes require actual scope. The tool adds no invented percentage or material multiplier.
Roof Cost Calculator FAQs
Why is my roof size outside the tool’s limits?
The regional evidence supports this model only between 1,500 and 3,500 measured roof square feet. A roof outside that range needs an individual discussion rather than extrapolated numbers.
Can I use my house’s listed square footage?
Use a measured roof surface instead. Floor area alone does not establish roof quantity. The calculator should not turn an uncertain input into a precise-looking price.
