Architectural shingles
A layered construction gives architectural shingles depth and varied shadow lines. The selected product determines exposure, fastening and the compatible starter and cap details.
A shingle repair has to fit the existing roof. The new pieces need to match the system, the surrounding shingles need to lift without breaking and the fasteners need sound decking. When deterioration extends across a slope, a wider replacement can address the covering and the layers below together. We inspect those conditions before treating the visible damaged area as the full job.

Construction, profile and tested performance answer different parts of the material decision.

A flatter repeated tab pattern gives a different appearance. Repairs need the correct type and dimensions; a similar color is not enough to establish compatibility.

An impact classification records performance under a defined test. It does not make an installed roof immune to hail or establish an insurance discount. Product-specific terms matter.
A covering works through its joints and support.

Asphalt shingles require a suitable slope and installation details. Low-slope roofs need an appropriate system rather than shingles applied outside their requirements.
Secondary protection, valley details, boots and wall flashing need correct laps beneath the courses. Covering a failed joint with new shingles carries the opening forward.
Intake and exhaust suit the roof arrangement. Edges, hips and ridges need compatible pieces and fastening rather than leftovers that merely look similar.
